The issue of black money and the subsequent harm it has caused to the Indian economy, has been raised very successfully by the BJP over the past years. Watch this video of BJPs spokespersons aggressive comments back in 2011-2014 when in the opposition to make the black money holders list public. Perhaps the highlight of the BJP campaign can be said to be the statement by Advani in Parliament,to much applause and cheering, when he asked the Government to disclose all the names on the infamous list, even if it included names from the BJP. In a major blow to the electorate who had placed their trust on BJP with a clear mandate, the BJP Government, has declared to the Honorable Supreme Court that names of account holders in Foreign Banks with black money cannot be disclosed, citing a 1995 agreement with Germany. It is worth while noting that this step mimics perfectly the response of the previous corruption ridden UPA to the Parliament, which the BJP had at the time soundly criticised. The citizens of the country are raising serious questions over the evident U-turn of the current government. 1) Has the BJP willfully mislead people during the campaign on corruption and Black money? 2) Are BJP and Congress, in effect, two sides of the same coin when it comes to black money, given the fact that they are safe guarding the same names? We look forward to see if the government is able to defend its position better than the UPA did and to not fool the public by providing the same excuses they had themselves earlier criticized. If the UPA excuse suffices, why did the BJP at the time protest the same ? No law in our country makes it legal for Indians to have Black money stashed abroad. The current government of India is bound by their own promises to let us know who are the ones who have kept our money away from us.
