The key to advancing the Kintyre project was in securing the support of the Martu, the traditional owners of the land. A strong relationship was forged with the Martu and their representatives in working through their ambitions in relation to the development of the proposed mine at Kintyre. Andy led the negotiations with the Martu, and secured their in principle support for the project. However the deposit was assessed as not being of the size required for Rio Tinto investment, and Andy secured support from the Martu for the sale to Cameco Mitsubishi.
