The killings in Peshawar shocked and shattered so many people across the border. Despite so much of animosity, controversies and conspiracy theories between Indo-Pak relationships, people from India expressed grief for the children and their families. Cartoons, posters, videos, poems, stories, emotions, etc. were exchanged and the central theme remained how can people be so cruel to kids. Not only that, we also shared photos of kids killed in Gaza or Israel, just without confirming or authenticating whether they are from Pakistan or Gaza or Israel. Yesterday Bodo militants killed many people in Assam. It was very disheartening to go through the news. The news is covered by all the news channels and media, but the criticality is lost in other stories of the day. Doesnt it sound strange that we value life of kids much more than life of grown-ups, even when every life is equally precious. Doesnt if sound illogical that just because kids are cute, massacre of kids is more tragic than other massacres? Doesnt it sound opportunistic that by over-emphasizing innocence of kids we consciously or sub-consciously try to prove how humane are we?
