The last time I went to the mountains, was in the fall of 2012. I have always enjoyed the scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains, especially during the fall. To see the dashing array of red, orange and yellow peaks against the backdrop of a clear blue sky with splashes of swirling white clouds peppered among the scenery. Unfortunately, my last trip was spent looking at low grey clouds covering the majestic scenery I had hoped to endure. Each day, as the low pressure system moved out, I noticed the clouds were higher than the day before, thus revealing the majestic mountains that I had come to see. On the final day as we were preparing to return home, I pulled back the curtains of our hotel room and against a backdrop of clear blue sky, I saw the scenery that I had missed the days before. Much like God, we have a blanket of cloud that obscures our knowledge of who He is. We want to know more. We want to see more. But we need to slowly allow the clouds to peel away so that more of God can be revealed. In the Bible, God’s Holy Word, God has revealed himself to us. From the Genesis as Creator to Revelation as a righteous Sovereign who deserves our worship, we can patiently come to know more about God as we walk with Him.
