The last two days have been kind of difficult. Matthew has not - TopicsExpress

The last two days have been kind of difficult. Matthew has not easily transitioned from one activity to the next. I have kept on trying and Matthew just keeps telling me he is frustrated these days; that everything is too hard. Matthew was happy and excited as his younger sister, who is in the Navy, came to see him last night. Her schedule these days is very full but she had a little time to come to see Matthew last night, but had to return to her duty today. Matthew was very happy to see his sister for even a short period of time. This morning Matthew had a difficult time waking up, until Slasher, one of his kittens, came and kept nudging him and nibbling on his toes until Matthew finally woke up. Matthew picked up Slasher, held her in his arms, and slept for another ten minutes. Later in the morning I had to stop and get my telephone fixed but I made a mistake in handling Matthew. I did not prepare Matthew for my husband I going into the store and Matthew would stay with his sister. Even though we were in the store for less than five minutes Matthew melted down, becoming very angry, screaming and crying for not taking him with me into the store. It required 35 minutes of explaining to Matthew that not all of the time is mommy able to take him with me. Finally, Matthew calmed down and we came back to our temporary lodgings for Matthew to relax and play with his kittens. After relaxing for a while I asked Matthew if he wanted to go somewhere again and Matthew said yes, but he had to do something first. Matthew then apologized to me, his sister, and his dad, giving us hugs and telling us he was sorry; saying it was very difficult for him sometimes as he tries to be a good boy but it does not always work out. I reaffirmed to Matthew that not everything is going to be easy, but that he can overcome these difficulties and do better next time. Matthew and I have to continue working on appropriate behavior, and going places in public, where sometimes he is able to go with me and other times he has to stay with his dad or sister. A second trip outside we went to the natural grocery to purchase two items and Matthew was perfect, happy with all of us, and did not bother the people around to us. Then we went to the pet store so Matthew’s sister can give a present for the kittens. Matthew was very relaxed and behaved appropriately at the pet store. He listened to the birds and said he wanted to have fish, like we had previously. While Matthew was talking to the fish it looked like all of the fish were paying attention to Matthew. After we returned home, Matthew played, played, and played with his kittens. I posted a video of the new toy Matthew and kittens were playing with, all of them having lots of fun, and giving me time to write and post the pictures and video because Matthew wanted to show everyone how happy his kittens were and how much he loved them.
