The last two holiday seasons have been pretty awful for me. First I was dealing with the idea that it was my last Christmas with my mom, and then last year was the first Christmas without her which was so much worse. I was caught up in grief, in stress, in nursing school, and in an overwhelming pressure to carry on even though I just wanted to curl up and cry. This year is different. I feel joy and excitement thinking about the upcoming holidays! It will never be like it was before, but I have a family who loves me and wonderful memories from years of happy Christmases with my mom. Tige and I are both working and in school, so my house may be a mess when people come over for Thanksgiving. Let them come!!! The Christmas decorations may not all make it out of the boxes, but it will be Christmas anyway and I am EXCITED!!! It doesnt mean that I dont miss my mom any more or that I wont get teary from time to time, but she told me several times that she doesnt want people sitting around crying about her. So Happy Thanksgiving and Merry Christmas! Let the holidays begin!!!
