The last version of a D&D rule book I had was 1st Ed. Advanced. Thanks to an Amazon gift card, I just ordered the 5th Edition Players Handbook. Ive heard many good things about the new rules. Andrew Paradox and I spent some time at Game Empire this afternoon and I got to look at the books myself. One major thing that struck me as impressive, and a departure from previous editions - they seem to have made the DMs Guide a great resource but not entirely necessary. That took some balls. I may have to buy it on principle. Unfortunately, I couldnt justify spending $50+tax on the same book in the store. No fault of their own, they gotta stay in business. But that was too big a difference in price for me to ignore. However, we DID pick up a few things from the shop.
