The latest... COTALI MAR Rating: B+ This past weekend I went out with two of my friends and one of them was in the mood for Portuguese food. So off we went to Cotali Mar. When we arrived, we went to the bar for a cocktail. My friend Witty George had a Bombay and sprite while my other friend, Rick the Trick had an Absolut & cranberry. I had a Grey Goose dirty. After our drink we were seated in the dining room. We had our choice to sit there, the bar, or outside. Our waiter brought us menus and water and let us be. Theres lots to choose from on the menu and when our waiter returned he rambled off 5 or 6 specials. By the time he was done, I forgot what the 1st special was. My advice, if you have that many specials, have them attached to the menu. We all decided to order appetizers. Witty George ordered clams casino or as he called them, stuffies. He said they were fine and tasty. Rick the Trick ordered scallops wrapped in bacon. The balsamic glaze thats drizzled over it can be over powering. He said they were good, however one of the scallops had a grainy taste, a big NO NO! I went with the flaming chourico. It was very tasty and had a nice kick to it. For our meals, Witty George decided to go for one of the specials, beef wellington. It came with veggies (snow peas & carrots) and a mashed baked potato. It came out as he ordered it. He enjoyed it since very little was left on the plate! My friend Rick the Trick & I ordered the same thing. Now for those who have been to Cotali Mar, they have something called steak on a stone or as George called it, steak on a slab. It isnt on the menu, but you can order it anytime. This is a meal that you can share as Witty George pointed out, but being the PIGS that we are, Rick the Trick & I wanted our own! We both wanted leftovers! I had mine tonight. The waiter advised us to order it medium rare since the steak still cooks on the stone. It comes with mash potatoes and veggies. We both asked if we could have the fried potatoes instead. It also comes with 2 sauces for dipping the meat. In the past, it came with 3, and of course the one I liked the best had a garlic kick to it, they no longer have. Both Rick the Trick & I agreed that it was the best cow we ever ate! MMMMOOOOO! We were too full for dessert. Our waiter, Rick, was knowledgeable and friendly, a little bit too friendly. I did not need to know his life story..lol Overall, we had a fine dinner. When we left, the patio was crowded and hopping with live music. A fun place to go on a Saturday night!
