The latest election results, coupled with the rising tide of police violence with impunity, brings to mind an old slogan: The American people went to war against fascism in 1941, and were still losing. The DP has betrayed the workers of America with its embrace of neoliberalism and corporate sovereignty. The leadership of the labor movement, having betrayed the private sector with it cowardice concerning the PATCO strike 32 years ago; retreated into a chronic siege mentality within the public sector. This has left the larger portion of the working class unprotected while the Fortune 100 effected their coup de tat. This betrayal is the reason union members and their families vote against their own interests. The DPs betrayal is why 64% of the electorate chooses not to vote. And how do the activists of this state and nation react to all this, by yelling at each other through the doorway of the Blue tent; each camp convinced that theirs is the only option. The fact that these two groups have much more in common with each other than the Blue activists have with those who actually own the Blue tent gets lost amidst the din of intellectual arrogance. The resistance splinters into single issue groups insisting their cause is most righteous. Pride, denial, historical amnesia all play their part in this cyclical ritual of disempowerment. The HM has no ready answers for any of this, only these observations.
