The local city of Revere was hit by tornadoes last week. Revere - TopicsExpress

The local city of Revere was hit by tornadoes last week. Revere is, for lack of a better term, a big ghetto. The average income, despite a population of over 50,000, is under $20,000. By government statistics, it is one of the poorest cities in the state. Additionally, tornadoes are a very rare thing here in MA, so generally people do not have special insurances or precautions against them. Revere was pretty much wrecked. The city applied for FEMA aid because, obviously, theres little to no money for necessities and repairs. FEMA rejected the requests, saying the damage was not expensive enough. Damage costs must meet or exceed a certain dollar amount to qualify for help from FEMA. The place is so destitute, Im guessing that even if every building in the whole city had been leveled, they still wouldnt meet FEMA requirements. Makes you wonder how this damage threshold is calculated or determined.
