The logical upgrade to Herbies Nikon F2 SLR film cameras is the Nikon Df - Which came out the month he passed and as such, made me want to pummel my fists in front of my computer monitor. It was PERFECT for his collection of manual Nikkor lenses (10 of them) and would have been the easy perfect way for him to transition into digital. He had a digital Sony and a Nikon 300, but never really cottoned to them or transitioned to digital. The Df has the same types of controls his film cameras had and could use all of his lenses. He would have LOVED it. For a few years, we (HW, me and Mike Gallo) had discussed going out to shoot film together - and while he was too stressed trying to pay rents on his storage units post 2005, by 2013 - he was FINALLY warming up to shooting again and had some old film stocks he had been saving and procuring and towards the end, I was getting stoked he was becoming interested about shooting again. I had been nudging and tugging on him for years. But he was always too stressed out and/or depressed with his storage unit rent situation to have the energy to be creative. Those are his words and no, he wasnt making it up. This was the truth 2005 onward. However by 2013, the Df would have made him become completely gung-ho. I do have all 10 of his Nikkor (nikon) lenses, and the Df will work with them as well as my own Nikkor manual lenses and my new modern Nikkor lenses, so all of our worlds can combine with this one camera body! I do need to pick up the ED 16mm-35mm and a 14mm fisheye and my mother is sending her micro lenses, so then, it will be basically a complete Nikkor lens kit. So, the Df is the PERFECT digital upgrade for Herbie and my and Ron Raffaellis Nikkor/Nikon lenses. Onward and upward we shall go
