The man cave . The south wall to which I seldom gaze upon is lined with three four foot sections of old lundia shelves . The top shelves house an assortment of wicker baskets accumulated over the 28 years with Pier 1, a large box of Marias wall art houses , an empty red tool box, trophies the chillin won, a broken table lamp, and a pair of glass urns. Second shelves are home to framed photos that failed to make it to the main house but most important to me to be on display, several of Rachels baptismal candles, old books and a bread machine. Third shelf holds tax returns from the days of Don Quixote, a box of tarnished silver plated trays and bowls, an ancient computer screen, a jar of tea bags, an infants portapot , and more old books Fourth shelf: Kirby vacuum accessories, a box of framed family photos, a stack of Uncle Adrians framed black and white photos forbidden for some undisclosed reason to decorate the game room walls, a PC that ran slower than a snail but contains too much of my writings to discard, more old books, and a sewing machine thats not quite antique, Fifth shelf: Jacquelines childhood dolls, a wok, plastic containers of stuff...only God knows what...and a wooden reindeer. So whats man cave about this decor? Changing chairs to view the south wall of lundia shelves we find a top shelf full of mildewed luggage collected over a lifetime Then four rows of shelves with containers full of daily photo albums, genealogy notes collected these past twenty years, Aunt Fannies china all boxed up and notebooks from the lectures at the College of St Thomas More. The man cave now hosts a pair of fine wicker chairs and a matching ottoman, the new outlet fires up a space heater, and theres a work bench, and my Everlast boxing bags. What sort of man cave is this me asks ? But there it is. A place of peace and quiet that every man requires. Amen.
