He saved devaram from thillai natarajar kovil (sung by appar,sundarar, thirunavukarasar) with the help of Nambi andar nambi from a store room which was been locked for several years by the temple management telling a story that the room should be locked till the 3 poets come alive . . Rajaraja cholan went with gold statues of the 3 poets and went to the temple to get back the devaram .. the pooja Iyer refused the statues and told that they should come alive . Then rajaraja cholan explained that if these statues are mere a statue then the Thillai natarajar is also a statue and finally dusted the manuscripts which was in a decaying state .. The only tamil poem which reverberates in many temples till now is because of the great man rajaraja cholan !!
