The man who gave me an opportunity to attain the little education I acquired over the years, has recently passed. I speak of the kindhearted and-one-of-his-kind, Mr. Jim Thompson (James Thompson). Mr. Thompson, once a farmer, a Member of the Jamaican Parliament (MP), Custos of Westmoreland in Jamaica, Junior Minister of Regional Affairs, with the PNP Government of Jamaica in the nineteen seventies, is responsible for me acquiring a high school and tertiary education. When I had no money and support to attend Mannings School and teachers college, he stepped forward and helped me right throughout. I cannot thank this man and his wife, the late Mrs. Elethia Thompson enough, for their help over the years. I recall missing the first two months of Mannings School as I had no one to help me with books, boarding, etc.. However, Mr. Thompson heard of my plight and stepped forward. By the end of October, I was in school. Thanks very much. May his soul rest in peace. Deepest condolences to all family members including Norman and Angela.
