The management of the Federal Polytechnic, Nekede, Imo State, has sanctioned no fewer than 49 students for various offences and examination misconduct. A statement issued yesterday in Owerri and made available to journalists by the polytechnic’s registrar, Mr. Matthew Aligbe, stated that 26 of the students were expelled, while the 22 other were rusticated for one academic session. Aligbe explained that 54 students had appeared before a disciplinary panel instituted by the management to investigate their alleged involvement in examination misconducts. This is even as one of the students was asked to retake some courses while five others were exonerated from any misconduct after thorough investigation. He stressed that the polytechnic would not compromise its high academic standard, warning that any student who displayed acts of misconduct would not be spared. The registrar, therefore, urged the management of other tertiary institutions as well as members of the public to take note of the details of the sanctioned students.
