The manager of volunteer operations at the Winnsboro Dog Pound said Sunday that Winnsboro Mayor Jackie Johnson took advantage of her weekend absence when he allegedly instructed the citys sole animal control officer to transport four dogs from the Winnsboro pound to Ouachita Parish where they would be euthanized. She said three of the four dogs sent to Ouachita on Friday were scheduled for an off-site adoption event Saturday. Only two of five council members returned phone calls she placed following the discovery, she claims, and neither had knowledge of the alleged incident.
