The memorial tribute to my sister, Susan Reid yesterday was very special. I found it to be very moving, and it was wonderful to see just how much she was respected by her colleagues and students. Susan had a whole different family at the university, and a separate life there; a life that we knew little about. I am just so very proud of my clever, articulate, innovative big sister. I am in awe of the fact that she inspired so many, and will be remembered every year by way of the Susan Reid Memorial Prize. I wish I could have one last chance to tell her how proud we are of her, and how much she will always be loved and missed in so many different ways. Instead, Jamie Reid , Heather Robb , Steve Coull, Mum and Dad and I, Dan and the rest of our extended family and friends, have to find a way to move forward. To draw a line under these last few months, and remember instead, that the legacy she leaves - in both her family and professional life - is far more important than the way she died... which was after all, one moment in a wonderful life, which was hard at times - but which was also full to the brim of of fun, laughter, achievement and love. Rest in peace Susan. We love you and always will. You will be remembered in so many ways. Goodbye special girl. x
