The men pictured in this video are all survivors of the WW II prison camp, Stalag Luft III. You’ve all seen it whether you know it or not. The 1966 movie, starring an all-star cast lead by Steve McQueen, Sir Richard Attenboro, James Garner, Donald Pleasance, James Coburn, Charles Bronson etc. told the story of, what became known as, “The Great Escape”. Allied airmen shot down, were imprisoned here. What many of you don’t know is Warren was represented in Stalag Luft III by one of its own sons, Major Joe Gosselin. Joe was shot down on March 6, 1944. He spent 14 grueling months as a “guest” of the German Luftwaffe. This video is of some of the last surviving member singing the Air Force song at a reunion in Colorado this past August. Joe is 2nd from the left in the white shirt. The black man seated further down the row is Alex Jefferson-one of the Tuskegee Airmen.
