The ministry of Gender Labor and Social Development has allocated 208 million shillings for youth livelihood projects in Buhweju district making it the 28th district to benefit in the country. This was revealed by the Mp for Buhweju district, Ephraim Biraaro yesterday while meeting the youth leaders at the district head quarters. Biraaro said that initially Buhweju district had been left out in the first phase of the district to benefit from the youth live hood project but after pushing left and right the district has been incorporated among those to benefit in the first phase. He said that the permanent secretary in the ministry of gender Pius Bigirima has already written to the district leaders to make a supplementary budget for the money and mobilize the youth to starts applying for their money. He challenged the youth to generate proposals that help create employment opportunities for the youth in Buhweju which also has the highest unemployed youths in the country. The chairperson of Buhweju youth council Gerard Musime thanked the leaders for pushing government to include Buhweju district among the first youth livelihood program beneficiaries. He said over 72 youth groups have so far been and says that once the money is disbursed, it will be fully utilized.
