The mobile phone industry is gradually becoming a mature market. - TopicsExpress

The mobile phone industry is gradually becoming a mature market. Design form is becoming stagnant and revolving around variations of the candy bar form that has been around for close to two decades. Companies are gradually exhausting the different methods of TRIZ to generate new ideas and are starting to circle the drain. Many companies are just distracting us with a mild push in specs and a change in materials, however, it is not a quantum leap for technology in general. Granted there has been some push in the software area, however these are minor modifications and nothing impressive has advanced since the advent of the iPhone brought us to the smartphone era. With new OSes coming into play such as Firefox, Ubuntu and Tizen, the concept of apps will likely be toppled or more firmly entrenched as a technology. There have been attempts to move away from native apps and replace them with HTML5, however, it has proved to be unsuccessful. The markup standard is proving to gain some traction on desktops as well as mobile sites, however it has not quite fully taken off for full fledged application development. For now, other mobile devices are not mature enough for consumers to afford, nor are they stable enough for consumers to use. I am really hoping for the next great push in mobile technology to arrive soon. Preferably before this Christmas
