The move to Daylight Savings reminds us that time is running out for the Maternal Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program, with must be reauthorized by September 30. We need your help to make sure your Members of Congress are watching the clock and put it on a bill that is “must do” legislation. Tomorrow, March 12, is a Day of Action for home visiting. So take a moment to call your Members of Congress and ask them to support MIECHV. Then tweet about the value of home visiting for families and why it must be reauthorized. Here’s how: Call your Senators and Representative Call the Capitol Switchboard at 202-225-3121 and ask to be connected to your Member of Congress. (Or you can look up the names and phone numbers of your Senators and Representative here.) Once you’re connected, here’s what you can say: “My name is ____________. I’m a constituent and I work with young children and families. I’m asking that the Senator/Representative support reauthorizing the Maternal, Infant and Early Childhood Home Visiting (MIECHV) program and include it on must-move legislation along with other health programs that need to be extended. Thank you. ” Hang up and call your other Members of Congress. Take action on Twitter Let’s draw attention to MIECHV tomorrow by making it a trending topic on Twitter! On March 12, between 2:00-3:00 pm Eastern Time, send tweets to your Members of Congress using the #HomeVisiting hashtag. (Look up the Twitter handles for your Senators and Representative.)
