The nation of Syria has some of the richest archaeological sites - TopicsExpress

The nation of Syria has some of the richest archaeological sites in the world. I was fortunate to visit Syria in 2005 in search of the African presence there. On similar journeys, I visited Turkey three times, Jordan twice, Syria and Lebanon, Egypt 22 times and twice to Tunisia. Syria has very few Africans today but with the exception of Egypt, Syria has more archaeological riches than all of the others. I saw a lot and took some excellent photos. Visits to the national museum, the tomb of Bilal, the mosque of Bilal, the medina of Damascus and the ancient city of Palmyra where reigned Queen Zenobia were among the highlights of my visit. And I fear for the safety of all of this today.
