The need for the power of the Holy Spirit in discipleship Understanding the normal Christian life requires a model, and the best model is Jesus. Jesus was saying, I only say what Im told to say. I only do what I am told to do. Im under the management of the Holy Spirit. If Jesus’ life and ministry was dependent upon the Holy Spirit our life and ministry must be also! (John 6:63) If Jesus Himself wouldnt dare attempt to minister without the Holy Spirit, how could we attempt to minister without the power of the Holy Spirit? Gods power is the ability to accomplish Gods purposes, not to do tricks so that you can become a celebrity. God’s purpose is to get the world out of us and get us out into the world. The first is holiness; the latter is mission. (2 Corinthians 6:17; Matthew 28:19) Gods power is the ability to accomplish Gods purposes, not to do tricks so that you can become a celebrity. Holiness and Mission God wants to help us break from from our addiction to sin and then send us back into society, to share our story, and to move in His power, and to point others to the One Who can set them free as well.
