The neonicotinoid pesticide used on this tree is now widely used - TopicsExpress

The neonicotinoid pesticide used on this tree is now widely used throughout the US for pest management when growing GMO crops. It is a systemic pesticide; applying it to the trunk of a tree makes all parts of the tree poisonous to all insect and arthropod life for the next two years or so. The trees that were the subject of this incident were in a parking lot, where people noticed the prompt death of 50,000 bees. The other million or so trees this pesticide have been applied to are out of the public eye, as are the billions of bees and other insects that have been killed. Most life on land comprises arthropods and insects -- and they are the base of the food web for all other life, all animals, including all reptiles, birds, mammals. With this pesticide we do have the ability to wipe out most life on the planet. All we have to do, is to keep blindly spraying it.
