The new CD BASTARD OF THE BLUES sold like crazy when we played in Spain last week. 50 CDs and 40 shirts flew out the door in less than two nights. You cant imagine how good that makes me feel. Its a real struggle for classic rock acts like Helix, Honeymoon Suite, Great White, etc. to get our music out. Radio doesnt support us, and even the distribution system for records/CDs doesnt really exist anymore. I think a good song writer is a good song writer is a good song writer. In Canada for instance, theres very few retail record stores and Wal-mart only carries CDs by the biggest artists in the world. Thats why we depend on our fans to get the word out and buy our music. I talk to a lot of bands that have been around as long as Helix and theyve entirely given up on releasing new material, which is a shame. Even Aerosmith has said publicly they are considering not recording any more studio CDs as there is no money in it. I couldnt do this business if I was just running around the circuit playing the milk run, that is playing the same old shit over and over....I got into this business to write, record, and release my own music and thats why Im still in it today.
