The new, new new plan! After talking to Evil Cat, its looking like Bulgaria, Macedonia, Albania. Not sure how long Ill stay in each country or even where Ill go. Its looking like public transportation is fairly cheap there so just wandering aimlessly is a possibility. Might even do some couch surfing - not sure. Ill have to check in to the hostel situation in each town as individual hotels are a bit pricey because hey, Im poor. Im going to have to find out where the tourist trail in each country is and try to stick fairly near that. When a country is really cheap (like India or SE Asia or Nepal) then I can wander off the tourist trail as I did there. Otherwise, you are stuck in a town with not only nothing interesting to see but no infrastructure for backpackers. Only extremely overpriced hotels. After doing those countries - or perhaps even before should I discover my money is disappearing too quickly - I can duck into Greece and fly out of Athens if need be to SE Asia. It costs less than going from USA to England because the airlines in the USA hate you. And Kevin Smith. Especially Kevin Smith. So, Ive got at least the semblance of a plan. Also, in these countries it seems that the train is a viable form of transport, often costing the same as a bus. It takes a bit longer but Ive enjoyed traveling by train in the past.
