The next two Sundays in May: May 11 (10:30 a.m.) Take My Mother – Please! Mother’s Day For some of us, Mother’s Day is a pleasant day to remember our mother, or the maternal figure in our lives. For some, it’s a pleasant day to be honored for being someone’s mother or maternal figure. But of course, for some of us, Mother’s Day is a more challenging day of feeling that, somehow, our own experience of mothering and motherhood was more complex. Rev. Lara Hoke’s sermon, Take My Mother – Please! will explore some of these feelings. The service will end with a ritual and time for sharing. May 18 (10:30 a.m.) The Question Box Many Unitarian Universalist congregations have the tradition of setting aside one Sunday a year as the Question Box service. This will be Rev. Lara Hokes first attempt at such a service! In place of a sermon, Lara will answer questions submitted by the congregation – as many as can be answered in 20 minutes. You submit questions about religion, Unitarian Universalism, theology, social justice, or anything related to congregational life, and Lara will do her best to answer.
