The ninth match of WrestleMania V was one that I kind of skipped - TopicsExpress

The ninth match of WrestleMania V was one that I kind of skipped yesterday as well as one I would honestly like to forget ever really happened, but it did. The match was Andre the Giant versus Jake The Snake Roberts and it was built on a story line that Andre had been discovered to have a weakness for fear of snakes. Furthermore, Andres old nemesis Big John Studd was appointed special referee for the match. This made snake placement the most important thing during the match. At one point, Ted DiBiase and Virgil literally tried to steal the snake from the side of the ring. After discarding Roberts, Andre got into a verbal confrontation with Studd (which led to a punch thrown by Andre to Studd). This led to Andres disqualification (in the second straight year at a WrestleMania match), but Jake took out the snake and people were treated to a 7 foot 5 inch man running around scared like a school girl of the thing. It was a mid card match two years removed from the biggest main event of all time. It also seemed to cheapen and make fun of a legend. Just sad all around.
