The objectives of co-operatives are as follows: 1. Short-term objective: Enhancing the understanding of co-operative ideology amongst the people, so that the co-operative can function as organizations that are capable of contributing towards economic growth and social development. 2. Long-term objective: To transform the co-operative movement into a vehicle that is competitive and geared towards eradication of poverty, creation of employment and business opportunities and upgrading of quality of life, based on the co-operative principles, for the national development in line with Vision 2020.
