The official death toll from Haiyan now stands at 3,621. PNoy said 10,000 was exaggerated, and that the more appropriate figure would have to be between 2,000-2,500. What hurts the Filipino nation is how its supposed leader downplayed the extent of loss of lives given the looks of the devastated areas. Its fine to understate economic projections, but never calamities - doing so would only result to a similarly downplayed response.
