The operation to replace the iMacs hard drive was a SUCCESS!!! Thanks in very large part to my darling wife Julies help, we were able to muddle through this overly complex process. We had a few nervous moments when I thought we were not going to make it... for instance there is a connector between the screen and motherboard that has 2 screws holding it in, and the screws are about 3 times the width of a human hair... and we lost both of them into the bowels of the computer! It took several minutes of anxious shaking before they popped out onto the towel we had spread onto the operating table. Thanks to OWC.COM for their great instructional video of how to change the drive, without that I never could have done it. Its great having 2 terabytes inside now rather than the original 250 gb, and the machine runs rock solid now, so Im pretty sure the other hard drive was indeed going bad.
