The other day I got in an argument with an animal-loving friend - TopicsExpress

The other day I got in an argument with an animal-loving friend because I corrected her on a biblical passage about God making man in his image and god giving man dominion over the animals(Genesis 27). She had stated that god created animals in his image too. It is funny how people adopt religion to suit their needs. Imagine if we can see this in action now, how much this has happened over thousands of years. She felt that an atheist should not be correcting a believer on the bible even if the believer was incorrect. Yes that is exactly what Jesus would do. Exclude people from the conversation and learning about his teachings. Yea that will totally get me saved. I then was told that an atheist could never know more about the bible than a believer. So under her logic she knows more about the bible than an atheist bible scholar like say Robert Price. My friend, who apparently didnt even bother read the first 30 verses of the first book of the bible, would know more than a scholar who reads the bible in its original languages? So of course a bunch of her friends liked my initial correction since I was correctly citing the bible, but as soon as they realized I was atheist, they unliked my comment. It is funny, but sad at the same time. I find such prejudice disturbing. I cited the pew study indicating that atheists do the best on surveys about religious knowledge. I was told that statistics are not facts. In my opinion, the questions were easy (except for one). Somehow , despite having Satan blinding me with my disbelief, I got 100% on the quiz.
