The other day we had to take Christopher to the vet, and Diango Casabella, Co-Founder of Leon Vegano Animal Sanctuary, could observe something that touched his soul.Christopher was really upset and sad because he had been separated from Tony, the other chicken that was rescued together with him , and also because he didn’t want to go out of the sanctuary. He didn’t stop whining and “talking” as he never had done before and he hid his head under his wing, something they only do when they go to sleep at night. He didn’t want to know anything about what was going on. It touched our heart! Diango had to cuddle him all the time, because otherwise Christopher didn’t calm down. Imagine what these little sweethearts must feel when they “live” in the farm for a month and when, at 41 days old they are carried to the slaughterhouse....their only experiences during their short lives are loneliness, abandonment, fear, pain and sadness. And they are just babies…. Christopher is very lucky to live here because nothing is ever going to happen to him. All the animals want to live in peace and freedom, they want to feel safe. It doesn’t matter what species they belong to. That’s what we work for, to offer the life they deserve to the animals coming from the so called “food industry”. And to make our society aware that a fairer world for everybody is possible if we go vegan.
