The other day, while riding to Cave Creek, my brother Bobby and I - TopicsExpress

The other day, while riding to Cave Creek, my brother Bobby and I made mention of all the new leather and how many of them wave. This got me to thinking again about the difference between motorcyclists, occasional riders and real bikers. There is a huge difference. Buying a Harley and riding on weekends does not make you a biker. Youre a new rider or a motorcyclist or even a motorcycle hobbyist. This isnt a bad thing, mind you... its simply a definition... but if youre not a real biker, please dont call yourself one... you sound silly and it could get you into trouble. You could reach middle age or anything north of say thirty and buy your first bike. I dont care what make... you took the classes and you buy a bike. As the old saying goes, $25,000 does not make you a biker... adjust the price and the make to fit... you might even go the occasional organized charity ride and know everyone at your local bike dealer... but Im sorry... youre still not a biker. Rain? A biker still rides, while a motorcyclist fires up the cage. Too much stuff to fit on the bike? A biker takes less stuff, while a motorcyclist fires up the cage. A motorcyclist could be any Joe who rides. He may just ride because it is less expensive or makes parking easier. This person might think its cool or fun. It might even be a personal triumph to learn how to ride. A biker rides for the sake of riding. A biker needs to ride or hell start jonesing and want to kill something. A biker makes plans around and including riding. There are no excuses to not ride. When given a choice about What do you want to do? a biker will always choose to ride (well maybe with the exception of carnal pleasures.) A biker considers his club or riding group family and his ride his kid. A biker may be mad at another biker but would never take sides with a non-biker. Bikers live and die by a code of honor and never betray that code. A motorcyclist rides for fun. A biker rides for life. A biker lives to ride & rides to live and rides without excuses. A motorcyclist just, well, rides. More on this later. I have things to tend to... like checking on my scoot.
