The past 48 hours will take a fair amount of time and effort to fully comprehend. We wrapped up a BASE jumping project in China two days ago in the rural province of Yunnan. The area, which is amongst the poorest in China, was filled with local people that welcomed us with much more than open arms. Their smiles were genuine, their greetings pleasant, and their offerings of local food were extremely gracious. To celebrate, we finished a night of partying at one of the most expensive night clubs in Chongqing, which is the largest municipality in China and one of the biggest in the world. The ironic thing was that in the night club were some of the wealthiest people in southern China, yet I had seen more smiles from the people the day before who were herding sheep and cattle for probably around $4 USD per day near the rural cliffs we hoped to fly our wingsuits off. The vast majority of people in the night club were either on their phone or giving off some superficial impression to the point in which they had completely forgotten they lived a life much better than 99.9% of the world. Thanks to everyone who donated clothing, the people of Zhaotong were very humbled by our willingness to help. They were very surprised and appreciated our efforts to give them a helping hand in their time of need.
