The patient spent a restful night. His vital signs are all strong; - TopicsExpress

The patient spent a restful night. His vital signs are all strong; he does not appear to be bleeding any more (not since Saturday, in fact), because his hemoglobin level is good; and the nurses gave him another sedation vacation this morning, turning off the Versed drip, but he woke up shortly after that and started panicking about the tube in his throat, so they started it up again. Thats good, though, because it means his body is processing the medication the way it should. Theyre erring on the side of caution when it comes to extubating him -- they dont want to take it out too soon in case he has another bleeding incident and he aspirates blood into his lungs. (I have no idea if I sound like I know what Im talking about, but I know way more about this stuff than I ever wanted to know.) Thank you for the prayers, vibes and encouragement for him to keep fighting. Hes a stubborn fellow, for which I havent always been grateful, but I am now.
