The patriotic war on varmints goes on. Now my pond has a protective cover I have relaxed a little. Yesterday I noticed that a metal sculpture I have in the pond had fallen over. I went into panic mode thinking the battlements had been crossed. No fish seemed to be harmed. Then I noticed that the pump, like all electric motors, moves a little when the power is turned on ("action and reaction") and so could have hit the sculpture and knocked it over. I moved the sculpture a foot away and no more scary moments. Still a bit worried!
