The problem with staying up to hit your deadline is you realize how dead Facebook is at almost 1AM EST. On the bright side, DAMN this is turning out well :D Snippet for anyone actually still awake! *** Breaking the Nexus. Reimagined. Rewritten. Reborn. Coming December 2, 2013!! *** The beginning strains of “Smooth Criminal” interrupted the conversation. Pulling his phone from his back pocket, Ian glanced at the display and grimaced. “It’s Morrison. I’ll call him back.” Hitting ignore, he started to return the phone to his pocket when it chirped, indicating a text message had come through. “Oh, look. He knows I’m ignoring his call. Nothing like your captain realizing you’re dodging him. Anyway, he said to tell you he knows you’ve got Sha here and she’s now your primary responsibility. He wants you to report first thing tomorrow with her for debriefing. We’ve got a few more disturbances so he wants me back. Why do you get to have all the fun?” Connor shrugged. “Can’t help it if I’m superior in every way, man.” Ian snorted as he pulled his coat on and walked to the front door. “Yeah, right. And I’m the king of England. Stay out of trouble you two.” Connor gave a mock bow. “As you wish, your majesty. Send me updates if you get any.” Giving his partner a sharp salute, Ian jogged back to his car and took off. Connor locked the front door, resetting the alarm and turned back to see Sha stretch her arms above her head, shirt lifting to reveal a hint of her midriff. That quick glimpse of skin set his blood on fire. “So, Detective. What do we do now?” Struggling to stop his mind from imagining what the rest of her body would look like bared to him, he attempted to make his lips form words. “We can keep going over the case notes or get a little more sleep.” Her hands slowly fell and her lips curved as she took a step toward him, her hips swaying. She was temptation personified, somehow persuading him to forget everything, the case, the threat to her safety, the imminent demise of the world. Another step closer, an arm’s reach away. He should move, say something to discourage her, but his feet were rooted to the floor. “You’ve felt it too, haven’t you, Detective?”
