The prospect of Dr. Flegg standing as an Independent for the seat of Moggill is exciting and should not be dismissed at a State Election where you only have to Vote One and thus, can effectively freeze out those odious professional politicians from both mainstream parties who happily will trample all over the tenets of Democracy to suit their shabby self-interest. Queensland already has Independents like Liz Cunningham [in a normally rusted-on Labor seat] and Peter Wellington [in a formerly National party safe seat]. Let us hope that they are joined by more Independents, come the next election. An Independent who promises fixed terms, the re-establishment of the Legislative Council as a TRUE House of review and no more than 2x4 year terms as an MLA or MLC will get my vote.
