The public is invited to the cenotaph in Lest We Forget Part at the LMC tomorrow, Saturday, September 14, 2013, at 1:45pm to greet soldiers from the Canadian Armed Forces (41 Signal Regiment), who wish to present the City of Lacombe with a commemorative plaque of appreciation (see attachment). 41 Signal Regiment will conduct a relay run starting simultaneously from Calgary and Edmonton, culminating at Veterans’ Park in Red Deer. The objective of this exercise is four-fold: to promote physical fitness in the Canadian Armed Forces’ own Signal Regiment in Alberta, to celebrate regionally the 110th Anniversary this October of the founding of Canada’s professional military communication branch, to promote the 2013 Terry Fox Run, and to increase public knowledge in all visited communities of part-time employment opportunities with 41 Signal Regiment. The Plaque presentation will be conducted to thank the public for their support, to commemorate their 110th Anniversary, and to demonstrate support for the 2013 Terry Fox Run. The soldiers are due to arrive at the park at approx. 1:45pm tomorrow for an hour stopover, and then they will press on to Red Deer. Please plan to be there a few minutes beforehand to show your support. We apologize for the VERY short notice, but it would be great to see a good turnout from the public to support our boys in uniform.
