The pullstart is alive! Not without a bit of a struggle - TopicsExpress

The pullstart is alive! Not without a bit of a struggle tho. Finished off a few niggling things like a new turbo inlet (I made 2, didnt like the first one) Fitted a bigger radiator fan. (Reason I had to make a new turbo inlet) Fabricated new upper radiator brackets to create additional clearance for bigger fan. Swapped the back housing on the turbo from a .49 for a bigger .64 Fixed a leak in the brazing of the turbo oil drain in the sump. Re-routed a water line So crank it over and its alive fairly quickly but not firing on one cylinder?? #2 is dead Pull plug out but its dry??? Hmmmm Check ECU data window and its showing open circuit on #2. Pull the engine loom and #2 injector wire is cut thru neatly about 50mm back inside the plastic corrugated tube....go figure this, as if by sidecutters???? So repair and refit loom. Fire up and STILL not firing on #2 dafuq??? Pull plug, wet?? hmmmm.. Ok pop in another and its away. Coincidentally, #2 was one of the cylinders affected by the rooted gasket and the plug was damaged. i replaced it with a spare Iridium that was laying around and bugger me if I didnt put that random plug back into #2!!! Fukkit, i had a brand new set of Iridiums for the VG30det so i robbed a set of those, wound them in and away the Pullstart goes as sweet as you like! Lastly, the idle control has not been working correctly so i disabled it. I spent around 3 hours playing around with it to no avail. the engine jusr races away at about 3000rpm until I unplug the idle vale and it settles again. This one had me scratching my head. In the end, one of the 2 aux outputs I need to drive the valve has fried pulling that side to constant ground and pulling the valve hard open all the time. Temporarily, I have wired the valve with only one side which reduces the valves authority over idle speed by around 2/3 but in thew short term its better than nothing as this motor, due to the lively cam, is pretty lazy on idle.
