The quest for a just and lasting peace in this country has been hampered by socio-economic inequities, social injustice, and a lack of democratic reforms that can empower the vast majority of our people. Thus social unrest, disunity and armed conflicts have become a seemingly permanent feature of Philippine society. As Filipinos committed to a just and lasting peace in our country, we must contribute to the development of a strong, grassroots, nation-wide and broad-based peace constituency and movement that can help get the talks back on track.
