The question of why Nigerians vote based on ethnicity is rather easily answered. The one I have been trying to figure out properly is why some Nigerians dont vote based on ethnicity. These individuals -as I have observed- have strong ethnic identification but when it comes to leadership, they can pick from any part of the country. What motivates them and can we harness such attitudes to stimulate the younger generation to think beyond primordial sentiments and just be Nigerians? Also, can such post ethnic behavior by these voters be useful in constructing the Nigerian? And when I say the Nigerian, I mean one for whom the country is more than a geographical expression.
