The rat race begins and I dont care to join. Please, keep me away. Ive spent the greater part of my life trying to please other people. To dress presentably, AND THEN SOME. Granted, looking good does make me feel good: Im an artist afterall. But let me do it for me: no pressure. For you, I have to hold myself up in a way that is not too proud but just confident enough. A touch of this and some of th that, some lipstick and some boldly painted nails. Extra makeup to cover the spots and then shoes: the higher the better? Jewellery..yes jewellery: glittery, sparkly ones. Oh, and a smarter phone, ofcourse. Please, the newest version. What else? My hair, my hair, my hair. Let it be long and glossy and billowing in the wind.Ive been obsessed with what they thinking: oppressed with the feelings of never being enough and Im tired. IM TIRED! I want to wear my shorts and T-shirt and flats. They ARE comfortable! A dab of lipstick and a pair of sunglasses cos that makes ME feel good. Can I please put on the same jewellery I have had for the past five years? They do still look good, dont they? And hey! I do have a phone, you know..and I wont hide it just because there are smarter ones on the market. I like my hair short most of the time now and I cant be bothered with nail polish and its chips unless... Just please leave me be, will you ? Let me hang out with the cool guys and look all sophisticated and sultry in the morning, then twirl my skirts and count pavements like a kid in the afternoon and wear shorts and a baseball cap and act boyish at night. I will do all the outrageous things that make me me. Cos Im having a really hard time being you. Funny, whiles I try, you are also trying to be someone else.
