The real nightmare isnt Ebola... Ebola is a fragile, short persistence, small droplet bloodborne, short latency, short pre-frank symptom infectious time, fast burn, 80% killer. In the worst case scenario for ebola, everybody stays away from everybody else for 3 weeks, everyone who is gonna die dies, and we clean up the mess and burn the remains. The real nightmare, is the hardy, long persistence, microdroplet or fully airborne, long latency, long pre-frank symptom infectious time, slow burn, 30% killer, with infectious reservoir survivors. Thats the one where 30% of the population is infected before the first person even shows frank systems, and only fully isolated individuals can possibly avoid exposure. Thats the one where everyone who isnt naturally immune gets the bug... and the 70% whose immune systems beat the bug after six weeks sick (or who would have... second order effects start within 5 days), have to face a world where 30% of the people havent... and all that means (hint... its a lot worse than you think)... Thats the one where the world dies.
