The real prisoner is the prisoner of his/her desires. said Ibn - TopicsExpress

The real prisoner is the prisoner of his/her desires. said Ibn Al-Qayyim, May Allah have mercy on him. This is the opposite of what we are taught today - FREEDOM - to be able to do and say whatever we want.... If we are to go with the statement of Ibn Al-Qayyim, then all that is taught to us -FREEDOM of thought/speech/movement/expression etc is in reality conditioning us to become subservient to our desires. Once we are subservient to our desires, our FREEDOMs will gradually begin to erode and we will begin to worship our desires.... Thats when we cross over into an un-Islamic territory
