And many people have put forth the proposition that when a soldier fights he represents the policies of that his government. Then it would seem to me to follow that f RE Lee was fighting for slavery, then every American soldier who fought in the Revolution, the pre-Civil War Indian Wars, the War of 1812, and the Mexican War was fighting for Slavery since that was the official policy of the US until 1865.
