The recent visit of Bloodhound supersonic car (SSC) has inspired one student at Stockport College to pursue her dream career in motor vehicle engineering. Sareanne Walsh, motor vehicle level 2, became so involved in the demonstrations she was adopted by the Bloodhound SSC education team. Her passion for motor vehicle engineering helped relate the concepts of jet powered motor vehicle engineering to fellow students. Her enthusiastic approach, through model making; presentations; and skill tests, helped Sareanne share the Bloodhound SSC mission of breaking the land speed record. Her dedication impressed the Bloodhound SSC education team that they promised to add her name to the Bloodhound SSC tail fin for it the land speed record this year. Sareanne said: I have always been interested in cars and Bloodhound SSC has inspired me to consider how technology can create new opportunities in the motor vehicle sector. I enjoy working in a practical environment: I have worked in call centres and am a trained chef. Motor vehicle engineering and its relationship with maths is now my focus. Bloodhound SSC is a real inspiration and has broadened my outlook and increased my aspirations. Sareanne, mum of three school aged children from Marple, is concentrating on completing her course and furthering her studies with a teaching qualification. She is also exploring opportunities to start a new business. In the meantime, she is looking forward to contributing to the Bloodhound SSC project when in returns to Stockport College for further educational visits in the summer.
