The refusal of South Africa and its delay to release the Kampepe - TopicsExpress

The refusal of South Africa and its delay to release the Kampepe report on elections must be condemned by all political parties in Zimbabwe and SADC.It is clear from the report that conditions and subsequent elections were not free and fair but yet former president Thabo Mbeki and crew decided to put a lid on evidence which could have been instrumental in changing Zimbabwean politics and discourse. Mr Mbeki by not revealing true facts on the situation in Zimbabwe is complicit in the prolonged economic crisis in Zimbabwe and the deluge of immigrants into SA.It is criticall to note that SA should have played big brother and helped to strengthen democracy. We call upon SADC in future to reprimand such behaviour that defeats the very tenets of poll guidelines. In fact SA did set a dangerous precedent which if unchecked could negate the democratic gains made in Southern Africa.Of importance is the betrayal of the common people of Zimbabwe who had to endure political violence, intimidation and vote manipulation up to the present day .We call upon the SA government to apologise to the people of Zimbabwe ,SADC and African Union observer missions and other stakeholders. We trust that in as much as it is in the past we must learn from such irregularities as pointed out by the commission into the conduct of elections. The next general elections in Zimbabwe are crucial in that they will usher in new generation of leaders. It is so critical that truth and frankness be the order of the day towards, during and after those crucial and watershed elections.SA has a moral obligation to right the wrongs of Kampepe report by standing with the people of Zimbabwe and not political expediency. We call upon the people of South Africa to engage their government and have answers on behalf of the people of Zimbabwe.Closure is required to heal this wound and restore trust in the democratic credentials of South Africa as a democratic and leading country in Africa.DARE (Democratic Assembly For Restoration And Empowerment) Political Party calls upon all Zimbabweans to be vigilant and start now to safeguard the vote of the next general elections, moreso in the face of a disfunctional and misdirecting government which we call upon to resign enmass and call for a general election through a road map which guarantees a fair indisputable vote. We are the people!!!! IDALE Yonke Indawo -Siyalungisaa!!! DARE Kwese Kwese -Tinogadzirisaaa!!!
