The resurgence of politikal Islam across the causeway is simultaneously laughable and sad. (Note the deliberate misspelling.) Before going on, Id like to express condolences to the actually devout Muslims that live their lives in sacrificial submission to their god. It is sad that Islam got dragged into the mix. Why call it politikal Islam instead of the political Islam that so many Islamophobes find threatening. Obviously, because it is comedic and cant be taken very seriously. Malaysian Politikal Islam might be summed up as follows. Political wannabes attempting (in a comical way) to stir Malaysian Malays up by loudly acting more Islamic than their political rivals. They say just about anything, even ridiculous things like dont wish others merry Christmas, or Malay language Bibles or use of the word Allah to refer to the Christian God will confuse Muslims and turn them apostate. And once they start talking about themselves as Malay heros fighting for Bumiputra rights, it becomes clear that it is all politikal. Why do they do this? It is because they cannot be bothered to put a little bit of their time and (not inconsiderable) money into building organizations to actually help Malaysian Malays. Its amusing how stupid these Malay heros think Malaysian Malays are. No one insults Malaysian Malays more than these Politikal Islamists.
